“Living at PEC, I was able to get the support needed for my boys. Staff set us up with computers, and showed us how to connect. While school was out, they provided books and learning activities, and helped keep them engaged, so I could focus on improving our circumstances. ” — Alisha

A simple recipe to life success. Yet, so many children— especially those 1,500 experiencing homelessness every day in Philadelphia, are left behind. In the wake of a global health crisis, social unrest, and injustice, human service organizations serve on the front lines, advocating for and providing equitable supports for our city’s most vulnerable families and children. And throughout history, it has been social service organizations that provide solutions to families’ most pressing issues.

Imagine a city where every child has the tools to succeed regardless of means or circumstance.  And every child can access high-quality education and a supportive, caring environment. That is why People’s Emergency Center (PEC) and Youth Service, Inc. (YSI)—two of Philadelphia’s leading social service agencies—are joining forces to expand and strengthen programs for children and youth during their return to school (digitally or in person) this fall. By working together, we can ensure 4,000 youth receive services, technology and support essential to thrive in school and beyond.
But we need your partnership too.

Today, a generous gift in the amount of $25, $50, or $100 will make twice the impact on youth. Your support will help PEC and YSI streamline services to provide a connected ecosystem of support for youth experiencing the most adverse of circumstances. Your donation will provide technological access, supplies, truancy prevention services, family empowerment services, tutoring, and 1:1 counseling, to ensure youth experiencing or at-risk of homelessness can overcome trauma, build resiliency, and thrive—even in the most extraordinary circumstances created by the coronavirus and its economic fallout.

Imagine going through shelter-in-place with your family. Schools are closed, learning is digital, and uncertainty lingers. Now, imagine not having a home, a computer, or the internet to keep your children connected.

A generous gift would help ensure thousands of others receive the support needed to thrive in school this coming year. Thank you for considering the children and families who need the most support during these most challenging times.

Gratefully,
