Make a difference in your community!
Nominate or be a candidate for People’s Emergency Center’s Neighborhood Advisory Sub Committee
The Neighborhood Advisory Sub Committee (NASC) is a city-wide program of Philadelphia’s Division of Housing and Community Development. People’s Emergency Center’s (PEC) NASC service area is between 31st and 48th Streets from Market Street to Mantua Avenue. There are 14 members who serve their neighborhoods for a term of two years. A new committee is being elected this year. You are invited to share your ideas, skills, and time with your neighbors by being a part of the PEC NASC!
Members of the committee help to organize events that benefit their community by collaborating with neighbors, civic associations, businesses, resource providers, and city agencies. The overall goal is to design projects that support improved housing, safety, and employment opportunities for West Philadelphia residents. Quarterly events include tax and utility assistance, home maintenance, financial education, and employment programs. On the second Monday of each month (except July and August) there is an open meeting to discuss neighborhood issues and how to create community driven solutions. Committee Members receive fundraising and leadership training to assist with the work involved.
The first step in the election process is to join the ballot. Candidates must be people who live, work, or worship in the service area. You can nominate someone else or yourself. Nominations should be submitted to PEC NASC Manager Kevin Brown at email@example.com or by calling 267-777-5820 by March 31.
On Monday April 11 at 6pm the PEC NASC will host a Meet the NASC Candidates Night! The NASC candidates will be joined by candidates for Philadelphia’s May General Primary (contact Kevin for the online link to the meeting). The PEC NASC election will run from April 12 to April 18 online at bit.ly/VotePECNAC.
