People’s Emergency Center blooms with events and resources this spring!
We are offering a full calendar of classes, food relief, community meetings, historical, cultural, and art programs for West Philadelphia residents this year.
Action for Early Learning West Philadelphia: Join them online on Thursdays March 31, April 7, April 21, and April 28 from 12-12:30 for a quick 30-minute lunchtime snapshot on the steps you need to take to register your child for Kindergarten. Barnes West: Barnes WEST is a collaboration between PEC and the Barnes Foundation, supported with funding by the William Penn Foundation. Announcements about this year’s program will be posted soon at www.pec-cares.org/barneswest.

Center for Digital Inclusion and Technology: PEC offers free computer classes for adults. Learn skills during remote, group classes in Microsoft Office, social media, design basics, online safety, and more. New this year: certification program designed for parents. Community Outreach and Planning: This PEC team facilitates programs throughout the year, including the Martin Luther King Day of Service event and Lancaster Avenue Jazz & Arts Festival. Criminal Record Expungement: Come out for an intake clinic with Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity. Start the process of erasing non-conviction information from your record, get informed about the pardon process for erasing conviction from your record & more! Food Relief: PEC's food relief program distributes at their Rowan House location at 39th & Baring Street every Thursday from 10am to Noon.
Heritage West: The West Philadelphia Community Archaeology Project, is a collaboration among PEC, the Black Bottom Tribe Association, University City Arts League, and Penn Anthropologists.
