In their Own Words: Families and Staff with Everyday Learning Play Spaces! PEC's Everyday Learning Play Spaces team has been working hard recently engaging with the staff and families at our current sites: Darlene Morris, Jane Addams Place, Families Forward Philadelphia, and Woodstock Family Center. We have received illustrative and rich feedback regarding what the staff and families would like to see our project accomplish. We have enjoyed hearing from our partner shelter staff and families during this phase of our projects. Here are some quotes from our first engagement sessions.
What emotions do you feel when you and your child play together? “I can only describe it as happiness, gratitude, and pride.” What’s a wish or dream you have for your child? “To be successful and stay true to himself.” What are top needs of families at your program right now? “Direction, patience, can-do attitude, motivation.” Our next steps include translating all of the programs’ ideas and identified needs into design prototypes for each site. In the coming months, look forward to example designs and photos as we begin our implementation and building processes.
