Senator Vincent Hughes Honored at Lancaster Ave Jazz & Arts Festival
PEC recognized Senator Vincent Hughes at the Lancaster Avenue Jazz & Arts Festival on July 16 for going above and beyond for the people of the 7th District. In fact, his work is helping children and families throughout the Commonwealth.
He has served this community as a member of the state legislature since 1987. He was a State Representative before being elected to the Senate in 1994. Senator Hughes is known for his support of health care access, small businesses, and economic development. He has been recognized locally and nationally – with his wife Sheryl Lee Ralph – for his work in HIV/AIDS advocacy.

Lancaster Avenue Jazz & Arts Festival Filled Saunders Park Greene with Neighbors, Jazz Fans, and Music!
The 2022 Lancaster Avenue Jazz & Arts Festival drew 3,000 attendees to Saunders Park Greene (39th & Powelton) on Saturday, July 16 from Noon to 7pm, the second-largest crowd in 16 seasons of performances. The Festival, presented by Wells Fargo, celebrated West Philadelphia and jazz musicians.
PEC Community Connectors Voter Registration Drive
LAST DAY TO REGISTER FOR THE PRIMARY IS MONDAY, MAY 2ND, 2022, so join PEC's Community Connectors at the MLK Jr. Pavilion at 40th Street and Lancaster Avenue from 11am to 3pm 5/2 to get it done. We'll have forms on hand in English & Spanish. You will also be able to register to vote online. Paper forms will be delivered to the Office of the City Commissioners by 4pm that day.
PEC Neighborhood Advisory Committee Elections and Resources
The PEC Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC/NAS) will elect new members this year. The ballot will be posted at lwww.lancasteravephilly.com/naselection.html in advance of the voting day on May 24.
Lab Renovation Nears Completion
We are excited to announce that physical updates to our computer lab at 3939 Warren Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 are almost finished! Expect open public lab hours and opportunities for in-person classes this summer. We anticipate that classes will have both online and in-person options this summer.
