PEC Announces New Staff
Philadelphia, PA – October 18, 2011 – On Wednesday the People’s Emergency Center (PEC) announced the following additions to its senior management team:
Agnes Ogletree joined PEC as the Vice President of Resource and Business Development. She spent the last several years as Chief Operating Officer at Transitional Work Corporation, where she was responsible for a multi- million dollar budget and 125 employees.
Ms. Ogletree graduated from Morgan State University with a BS in Economics and an MBA in Marketing. With foresight and vision regarding hotel marketing, she built a 15 year career with hospitality industry giants such as Sheraton, Hilton, Holiday Inn and Adams Mark. Her capstone achievement in that field was the founding of the most exclusive “Five Star Bed and Breakfast” in Pennsylvania, the Rittenhouse Bed and Breakfast.
Ten years ago, she changed career paths and entered the nonprofit world through MANNA. Later, as the Chief Operating Officer of Wireless Philadelphia, she was responsible for the deployment of the network and mission of providing high-speed internet access to community based organizations. Ms. Ogletree is very active in the community and serves on the boards of Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, Women’s Opportunities Resource Center, Child Inc. and the YMCA of Delaware.
Curtis Haynes joined PEC as the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. He is the former VP of Finance/Operations and CFO at The Lutheran Theological seminary here in Philadelphia. Mr. Haynes has a solid financial background that will be a welcome addition to PEC’s finance team. He was responsible for all financial management which included resource/endowment management, debt financing, financial forecasting and regulatory compliance. He serves on the boards of In Trust, Presbyterian Community Ministries of Delaware Valley, and Moorestown NJ Ministries.
PEC also announced the promotion of Malkia Singleton Ofori-Agyekum to Vice President of Social Services after spending four years as its Deputy Director of Social Services. Her fourteen years of experience as an administrator and an educator also includes Jumpstart Baltimore Program Coordinator, Project Act Training
Consultant for Abilities Network, and Education Coordinator for Head Start. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Rehabilitation Services from the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore and her Master’s of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Malkia has a certificate in Early Childhood Mental Health.
Finally, PEC announced hiring Valentin Dopiro as the Director, Center for Employment Education and Training Programs. Before PEC he worked as the Director of Education and Training at Per Scholas Institute for Technology in New York City, where he provided educational and employment opportunities to a total of 1,200 people city wide. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and his Master of Arts in Instructional Technology and Media from Teachers College, Columbia University.
