CoventryCares and Brown’s ShopRite help homeless families provide healthy meals for the holiday

Homeless and formerly homeless families at People's Emergency Center (PEC) in West Philadelphia received extra help to have a traditional meal they can enjoy and share with others this Thanksgiving. This morning, CoventryCares, in partnership with Brown’s Shoprite, provided fifty single mothers and their children turkey dinners for the Thanksgiving holiday. The giveaway event was held at PEC’s Rowan House, 325 N. 39th Street, Philadelphia, PA. Michael Basher, ShopRite Community Affairs Manager, Joyce Williams, Manager of Community Development for CoventryCares and Farah Jimenez, PEC President and CEO attended and helped bag the food.

“The tough economic climate underscores the need for organizations to help people who are in need,” said Williams. “Thanksgiving is the time when families come together and give thanks for their blessings. We want to ensure that these families have a chance to celebrate this tradition and make it one to remember.”

“We’re so thankful for this generous donation from Brown’s ShopRite and CoventryCares to our families. The opportunity to share a special holiday meal with their children is a great gift for these parents,” said Jimenez.
